Live LPP bus arrivals in your AI assistant

Connect ljbus to ChatGPT or Claude and ask “when is the next 6 at Bavarski dvor?” — the answer comes from the same live GPS data as ljbus.cc. Free, no account needed.

What you can ask

  • “When is the next bus 6 at Bavarski dvor towards Dolgi most?”
  • “Kdaj pride naslednja dvojka na Novih Jaršah proti centru?”
  • “Which bus stops are near me and what’s coming?” (share your location with the assistant)
  • “Is line 3G to Grosuplje on time at Konzorcij?”

The assistant finds the stop, picks the right direction (most Ljubljana stops come in pairs — one towards the centre, one away from it) and reads the live arrivals. Each answer links back to the stop’s full board and timetable on ljbus.cc.

How to connect

Claude

Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the server URL below, no authentication. Once ljbus is listed in Claude’s connector directory you can add it from there with one click.

ChatGPT

Once ljbus is listed in the ChatGPT plugin directory, search for “ljbus” and connect it. Until then: Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced → enable developer mode, then create a connector with the server URL below and “No authentication”.

This is a standard remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP), so any MCP-capable client can use it.

Tools

All tools are read-only and public — nothing is written, no login is involved.

  • search_stops — find LPP stops by name (e.g. “Bavarski dvor”) or stop code. Returns each stop’s code, direction, the lines that serve it and its ljbus.cc link.
  • nearest_stops — the closest stops to a latitude/longitude, within 3 km, with distance in metres.
  • get_arrivals — live arrivals at one stop, grouped by line and destination, optionally for one line only. Each arrival has minutes to arrival and a status: live (GPS-tracked), scheduled (timetable time, bus not tracked yet), arriving or detour.

Good to know

  • Covers LPP city buses in Ljubljana only — not intercity buses (Arriva, Nomago) or trains.
  • ljbus is an unofficial service and not affiliated with LPP. Times are predictions from LPP’s public data; for official information see lpp.si.
  • To protect LPP’s servers, live lookups are rate-limited when many people ask at once. The assistant then gets the stop link instead, and the live board on ljbus.cc always works.

Privacy

The connector only receives what the assistant sends for a lookup (a stop name or code, a line, or coordinates if you share your location) — never your chat, name or account. Nothing is kept beyond routine server logs, which are deleted within about two months. Details: privacy policy.
